Will Tiger Woods play golf at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 2016?

Answer: I don’t care!! And not because of his sex life but because I think it really means squat if he were to win the Olympic games golf event that was only recently added to the list of Olympic sports at the 2016 games.

With the mass media coverage of Tiger’s infidelities, the man has suffered and continues to suffer at the hands of his sponsors. They have either already dropped him or announced they are reviewing whether to continue him as the sponsor of their products.

Amazing – we just can’t leave it at the fact that Tiger Woods is the best golfer that has ever played the game, we have to dig and dig deep into his private life. Same as we have done with Michael Phelps and his bong. Shouldn’t our news networks rather focus on some real news from around the world instead of feeding us the garbage of his love life?

But that’s typical American puritan preoccupation with sex. On one hand we profess to keep sex and nudity out of limelight of our environment in order to curb sex crime and bring up our children right, and on the other we smother our news with the most bizarre coverage of it.

We love to put pictures of men that were caught soliciting prostitution on a public website and announce the link in our media. We have congress discuss what to do when Jane Jackson’s nipple appears during Super Bowl for millions to get a fraction of a second look at it. And we must open local evening TV news with a story of a woman getting arrested for breast feeding in Wall-Mart.

What are we accomplishing with all that? Do we have less sexual predators or less prostitution? And of course we all have already been told that Tiger Wood’s story will constitute direct hit on PGA earnings, golf equipment sales and profits in general.

Will Tiger Woods be at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 2016 in Brazil? I don’t care whether he will or will not, nor do I care about any of the negative impact on golf his love life now has, I just wonder – who are we?

Let Tiger play golf and enjoy his amazing skill! Nothing else matters if you love golf!

Which sports should be recognized as Olympic sports

At the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro there will be 28 official Olympic sports, two more than at the next games in London in 2012. The two sports that will be added will be golf and rugby. There were actually 28 sports at the Beijing games but two sports were dropped from the games, baseball and softball.

OK, golf is widely played around the world though it is a sport that is not exactly reserved for the masses on account of needing manicured golf courses and we all know how much money goes into that, not to mention the big bucks it costs to belong to a country club, take lessons and buy the proper equipment.

Rugby, OK, let’s have it at the Rio games, it is played by quite a number of nations though at the games they will have the rugby sevens, an offshoot of rugby played by teams of only seven players rather than the classic rugby made of 15 players on each team. I hope Papua and New Guinea will make it as they do have a regular rugby team, and the sevens is played by unlikely teams as Uganda, Brazil, China and Thailand.

I like the participation of obscure nations in the Olympic Games as that’s the way it should be. For example it’s good people notice Bhutan is competing in archery, their national sport, and they are good at it, or that Jamaica actually has a bob sled team, I think that’s great.

The American women cried that softball was dropped from the Olympic Games. The American team pitcher Lisa Fernandez actually complained the decision will ruin the lives of millions, actually billions of women, she said! Well, the American team was beating up on all the other teams so bad that the IOC had to look at that scenario, as was the lack of participation among nations to begin with, hence not sure where these billions of women she had in mind are to come from.

Archery was rightfully added as Olympic sport because indeed the sport is a one kind of sport that has been part of man’s skills globally, regardless of his culture, remote cultures included, for almost as long as man has been a hunter.

Related to the premise that global reach of the sport is important in order to add it to the Olympic program, the tug of war event, which was part of the Olympic Games in the early 20th century, then dropped, should be reinstated. In fact this is one sport which all nations should be required to participate in at the games as all nations can pull on a rope regardless of how poor they may be.

On the other hand, while tennis has been added it is doubtful the Olympic Games gold medal will ever surpass the meaning of a Wimbledon or US Open trophy, hence why bother when even the diehards of tennis care a less if Federer will win the Olympic gold medal.

Michael Phelps swimming results, his girlfriend and the bong

Yes, the many times Olympic gold-medalist Michael Phelps has not produced the top results in the pool lately. He even admitted to being bit out of shape himself after not making the final in 100 meters butterfly at the Fina World Cup in Stockholm. This was not so much the shock as he has not been known to be a sprinter but did come after he did not win the 200 meters individual medley final either just before that, and in fact was nowhere near the top in 100 meters freestyle nor 100 meters backstroke, a race from which he in fact got disqualified, in days preceding the first race noted.

Of course the controversy ranging on is on account of those bodysuits that he has not been wearing, though his opponents have, which will be outlawed coming January.

But on another hand, whatever the fact for him not being the winner at the moment he has been for years, it does not stop all these puritans to criticize this remarkable athlete, and have them bring up that bong once again. And not having more to feed their miserable boring lives, they’d bring up – ah, yes, that cocktail waitress from Las Vegas he has dated.

Let’s put it this way: any athlete that can spend more time in the pool training for years, all those countless hours that if added up would total more than anyone of his critics actually spends sleeping and picking his or her nose, can do whatever he wants after having piled up 14 gold medals at the Olympic Games!

In my book, given that kind of incredible determination, dedication and perseverance Michael Phelps has shown for years, and to achieve what he has achieved, he can have a smoke (whatever he wants to smoke) if he feels like it, he will always be a role model to my kids for what he has achieved! If not to your kids, then shut up and take them to Mac Donald’s, so they get more fat and keep looking for that role model to introduce them to!
